Zverev Allegations: German tennis star Alexander Zverev faced a challenging moment during the Australian Open 2025 trophy presentation on Sunday. After losing the men’s singles final to World No. 1 Jannik Sinner, Zverev’s speech was interrupted by a spectator who shouted the names of two women—Olya Sharypova and Brenda Patea—both of whom have made domestic abuse allegations against him in the past.

As Zverev stood in front of the crowd at Melbourne Park, the spectator’s voice rang out, saying, “Australia believes in Olya and Brenda.” This caused some boos and whistles from the crowd, but the majority responded with cheers and applause. The crowd’s support helped drown out the disruption as Zverev continued with his speech.

The accusations against Zverev came from his ex-girlfriends. Sharypova, a former tennis player, alleged domestic abuse, though she did not file a police report. Patea, who has a daughter with Zverev, brought a criminal case against him, but it was settled out of court. In June, a German court dropped a case against Zverev after a settlement was reached, just hours before he was to play in the French Open semi-final.

When asked about the incident at a post-match press conference, Zverev denied any wrongdoing and stated, “There haven’t been any accusations for what, nine months now?” He made it clear that he had addressed the matter and had no intention of discussing it further.

This tense moment added an unexpected layer of drama to the Australian Open final, where Sinner claimed his second consecutive title.
