Newlands Bishop Farm in Solihull is making a big difference in the lives of adults with learning disabilities. The farm helps them learn new skills and find jobs, both on the farm and in the local community. For 24-year-old Anna Botting, who has learning disabilities, the farm has been life-changing. She now lives independently in a supported living scheme nearby and says the farm helped her find her place in the world.

Andrea Long, 23, has also benefited from the farm. Over the past three years, she has gained work experience at local charities and businesses, feeling more confident and empowered. The farm, run by the Family Care Trust charity, hires 18 adults with learning disabilities and helps others find jobs in the area.

Daniel Adams, the chief executive, says the farm’s goal is to help people with learning disabilities contribute to the community and gain employment. The farm is open to the public on weekends and even hosts weddings, but its main mission is to support those often overlooked in the job market. This inspiring initiative is celebrating 30 years of transforming lives.
