On International Asperger’s Day, 20 February, the National Institute for Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities (NIEPID) launched several Aspergers Awareness programmes across India. These events aimed to educate people about Asperger’s Syndrome and promote inclusivity for those affected by it.
In Kolkata, the National Institute for Locomotor Disabilities (NILD) hosted a webinar titled “Understanding Asperger’s Syndrome: Insights, Challenges, and Support Strategies.” Experts shared ways to improve the lives of individuals with Asperger’s.
In Jammu, the Composite Regional Centre (CRC) organized an awareness programme at Jammu College of Physiotherapy. Students and faculty learned about the symptoms of Asperger’s and the importance of inclusivity.
Nagpur’s CRC held a webinar featuring Dr. Shruti Dhengre Gaikwad, who discussed rehabilitation techniques and occupational therapy for Asperger’s. Guwahati’s CRC screened a documentary to help participants better understand the condition. Meanwhile, Jaipur’s CRC conducted a virtual webinar on challenges and support strategies for individuals with Asperger’s.
These initiatives by NIEPID highlight their commitment to creating a more inclusive and supportive society for people with Asperger’s Syndrome.
