The Institute of Mental Health and Neurosciences (IMHANS) Srinagar has launched a new video call consultation service to support people with mental health challenges in Jammu and Kashmir. This service is part of the Tele Mental Health Assistance and Networking Across States (Tele-MANAS) program.
With this new facility, patients can consult trained mental health professionals through video calls, right from their homes. The system also includes a feature for generating prescriptions, making it easier to receive treatments. People can access this service by dialing 14416 between 10 am and 2 pm, Monday to Friday.
IMHANS officials shared that the initiative is aimed at breaking the stigma around mental health and reaching more people who might hesitate to seek treatment otherwise. It is especially useful during winter months when snow blocks roads, making travel difficult for patients living in remote areas.
The program hopes to help more people access mental health care and raise awareness about its importance. Both male and female experts are available to ensure a comfortable consultation experience for all.
This effort by IMHANS is a significant step towards addressing mental health issues and ensuring that people, regardless of their location, can receive professional care.
