Ontario is taking a big step towards building safer communities by creating 18 new Homelessness and Addiction Recovery Treatment (HART) Hubs. These Ontario HART hubs are designed to help people facing addiction and mental health challenges. This addition is part of a larger plan to open 27 HART Hubs across the province, with an investment of $529 million. The new hubs will offer mental health support, addiction care, housing, and employment services to people in need.

Earlier this year, 9 new HART Hubs were approved, and these 18 new ones are expected to be fully operational by April 2025. The government is also working on closing drug injection sites that are too close to schools and child-care centers. These sites will be transitioned into HART Hubs, ensuring people get the support they need in a safe environment.

Deputy Premier Sylvia Jones shared that this initiative will ensure that people have access to services for mental health and addiction care, no matter where they live. Each hub will provide a wide range of services, such as healthcare, housing, and job support. Additionally, the HART Hubs will create over 540 supportive housing units to help people transition to stable long-term housing.

Mayor Josh Morgan of London expressed gratitude for the selection of London as one of the locations for these new hubs. He highlighted the importance of these services in helping individuals recover and rebuild their lives.

With these new HART Hubs, Ontario aims to help thousands of people each year lead healthier, more stable lives, making communities safer and stronger.
