Lewis Murphy’s Comeback to Super League Sparks New Motivation

Lewis Murphy, the 22-year-old rising star in rugby, is returning to the Super League with renewed motivation and ambitious goals. Following his impressive debut season with Wakefield Trinity in 2022, Murphy was eager to establish himself as one of the Super League’s elite players. Unfortunately, an ACL injury cut his season short in 2023. Despite this setback, Murphy continued to pursue his dreams and earned a spot with the Sydney Roosters in the NRL’s NSW Cup. Now, after gaining valuable experience abroad, he is back with St Helens, ready to make a significant impact.

Murphy’s journey from England to Australia and back has tested his resilience. Although his injury sidelined him, his motivation to succeed never faltered. He managed to impress NRL scouts and eventually signed with the Sydney Roosters. Murphy’s return to St Helens puts him in competition for a starting position against teammates Jon Bennison and Tee Ritson. Yet his standout performances in 2022, which included 19 tries in 24 games for Wakefield Trinity, have instilled confidence.
