“Being asked “Why are you depressed? Life is beautiful!” is like saying “why do you have asthma? There is so much air!”.

Comparing depression to asthma highlights how oversimplified statements don’t address the real struggles involved. Just as asthma requires more than just fresh air, depression often requires more than positive reminders. Genuine support involves empathy and an understanding that mental health challenges can’t simply be wished away.
