Organizations across the nation share a common goal: to combat the stigma surrounding mental health and raise awareness for youth mental health resources.

In pursuit of this mission, a vibrant event took place on a Saturday at Bergfeld Park in Tyler, Texas, focusing on raising awareness about available mental health treatment options, particularly catering to the youth.

Bringing together the efforts of the East Texas Crisis Center and Next Step Community Solutions, the event was a lively family fun day aimed at not only spreading awareness but also educating attendees about the diverse array of mental health services available to young individuals in East Texas.

Youth Mental Health Resources And Services For Youth And Children

Jeremy Flowers, the Director of Marketing and Public Relations at the East Texas Crisis Center, expressed the core purpose behind the event, stating, “We just wanted people to come out and learn about all the great services that are provided to the youth and children in East Texas and also have a fun time while doing so.”

The collaboration between these two organizations demonstrated a collective commitment to addressing the critical issue of mental health among young people.

With a range of activities and resources, the event sought to engage families and individuals of all ages in meaningful conversations about mental well-being.

The event aimed not only to destigmatize mental health challenges but also to emphasize the significance of early intervention and accessible resources.

By providing a platform for discussions and interactions, the organizers aimed to create an environment where seeking help and support for mental health concerns becomes a normalized and welcomed step.

Flowers further elaborated on the event’s purpose, emphasizing the importance of breaking down barriers, “We’re trying to bring that community together to let people know it’s okay to ask for help. Everybody needs help sometimes.”

Various booths and information centers were set up to provide attendees with valuable insights into the different mental health resources available in the community.

From counseling services to support groups, the event aimed to showcase the multifaceted approach to addressing mental health issues among youth.

In addition to raising awareness and providing information, the event also aimed to promote the idea that discussing mental health should be a part of everyday conversations.

By offering engaging activities and entertainment, organizers hoped to facilitate open dialogues around mental well-being in a comfortable and relaxed setting.

The significance of events like these extends beyond just a single day of awareness. They serve as a catalyst for ongoing conversations and initiatives aimed at building a mentally healthier community.

Through collaboration and education, the hope is to create a supportive network that helps young individuals navigate the challenges posed by mental health issues.

Flowers summed up the event’s impact succinctly, saying, “We’re here to raise awareness. It’s okay to not be okay, but there’s help available. It’s important to reach out and ask for that help.”

The event at Bergfeld Park exemplified the power of community-driven initiatives in destigmatizing mental health and providing essential resources to those who need them the most.

By fostering an environment of understanding, support, and conversation, the event took a significant step towards ensuring that young people in East Texas have the access they need to mental health resources and services.
