During the Season 3 premiere of ‘The D’Amelio Show,’ Dixie D’Amelio opened up about her struggles with premenstrual dysmorphic disorder (PMDD), a condition that significantly affects her mental health and relationship with her sister Charli.

Dixie candidly discussed how PMDD leads to severe anxiety and depression, emphasizing that it’s essential to raise awareness about the condition and its impact on daily life.

PMDD is a chronic medical condition characterized by extreme mood shifts and debilitating symptoms such as depression, anxiety, irritability, and insomnia. It represents a more severe form of premenstrual syndrome (PMS).

Dixie, a TikTok star and singer, was diagnosed with PMDD in October 2022, and in the Season 3 premiere, she shed light on the profound toll it takes on her well-being.

Dixie shared that she often needs to take time off work every month before her period due to the overwhelming symptoms of PMDD. These symptoms extend beyond the typical discomfort associated with menstruation, affecting every facet of her life, from sleep to anxiety.

Dixie D’Amelio talks About Symptoms Of PMDD

The 22-year-old influencer expressed her frustration with the misconception that PMDD is just a common experience associated with menstruation. She explained, “People are going to be like, ‘Oh my God, everybody gets that.’ Like, no. I didn’t know that you weren’t supposed to want to die every month before you got your period.”

Her candidness highlights the need to recognize PMDD as a legitimate medical condition that significantly impairs the quality of life for those who experience it.

Dixie elaborated on her PMDD symptoms, which include not only severe anxiety and depression but also experiencing moments of hopelessness and anger. These emotional and psychological challenges make PMDD a deeply distressing condition that requires understanding and support.
