A team of researchers at Swansea University explored how parental income influences sexual behavior in children. The study is published in the journal Evolutionary Psychology.

The Study

The researchers analyzed data from the BBC internet study, a large-scale multiethnic and multinational survey. About 255,116 participants answered around 200 questions about demographics, personality, parental income, sexual behavior, etc.

The Findings

The results revealed that parental income influences the sexual behavior of adult children. Parental financial conditions dictate sexual orientation in adulthood, namely, heterosexuality, homosexuality, and bisexuality.

The authors elaborated: “A simple prediction would be that male children from low-income parents and female children from high-income parents would have elevated rates of same-sex attraction.
