In a thrilling display of support for mental health initiatives, community members and legislators joined forces for the annual “Over the Edge” fundraiser benefiting Easterseals MORC in downtown Grand Rapids.

This daring mental health initiative brought together people from all walks of life, including Congresswoman Hillary Scholten, who shared her exhilarating experience of descending 272 feet, equivalent to approximately 18 stories, in the Grand Rapids skyline.

Congresswoman Scholten, known for her fearlessness, expressed her excitement about the event. “It was thrilling. It was so exciting. You know, I’m not really afraid of heights, but I will say when I leaned back over the edge, my adrenaline certainly got pumping,” she revealed to FOX 17.

The “Over the Edge” fundraiser not only offered participants a heart-pounding adventure but also a chance to make a meaningful impact.

Easterseals MORC, a prominent nonprofit organization, raised an impressive sum of well over $117,000 during the event. Contributing to this generous donation was Amway, which contributed $40,000 to the cause.

The funds raised during the “Over the Edge” event play a pivotal role in supporting the vital behavioral health services provided by Easterseals MORC. Importantly, all proceeds remain within the West Michigan community, ensuring that individuals in need have access to essential mental health services.
