News recently broke that renowned model Bella Hadid’s Lyme disease had taken a toll and she is on medical leave to address her health. While many media sources speculated that she is on rehab to deal with substance abuse issues, the supermodel’s spokesperson clarified that her break is not due to addiction rehab.

The source, quoted in an InTouch publication, said: “She is treating her Lyme disease … She is not in rehab and has never had a drug or alcohol issue.”

Lyme disease is a tick-borne illness caused by the bacterium Borrelia burgdorferi. It is primarily transmitted to humans through the bite of infected black-legged ticks commonly found in grassy and wooded areas.

The disease can manifest in various stages, with early symptoms often resembling flu-like conditions, such as fever, fatigue, headaches, and muscle aches. If left untreated, the infection can spread to joints, the heart, and the nervous system, leading to more severe physical and mental health complications.

Bella Hadid’s mental health journey has been subject to candid confessions and conversations, both by herself and the global media. She has previously celebrated a personal accomplishment of being alcohol-free for five months in March of a previous year. She had also taken steps to significantly reduce alcohol consumption even before that, as she recognized the impact it had on her life.

In an interview, Bella Hadid expressed her shifting perspective on drinking, revealing that she used to indulge in alcohol without much concern for its consequences.

However, over time, she recognized the negative effects it had on her mental well-being, leading to anxiety and stress. She explained how the regret and worry about past actions after a night of drinking took a toll on her emotional state, making her rethink her choices.

The fashion industry’s demanding nature also played a role in shaping Bella’s habits. She acknowledged that the industry often fosters a lifestyle where late-night partying and excessive drinking seem normal. However, Bella realized that this lifestyle was not sustainable for her and decided to make positive changes.

During her college days at the Parsons School of Design, Bella admitted to having consumed significant amounts of alcohol, using it as a coping mechanism for the pressures of school, castings, and artistic pursuits.

Nevertheless, she matured and evolved, recognizing the importance of addressing her anxiety, depression, and Lyme disease diagnosis openly. Through her willingness to share her struggles, Bella aims to offer support and encouragement to others facing similar challenges, letting them know they are not alone.

In a heartfelt Instagram post from November 2021, Bella emphasized the value of self-improvement and introspection. She emphasized the importance of taking time alone to understand one’s traumas, triggers, joys, and daily routines. By doing so, individuals can better comprehend their own pain and learn how to cope with it effectively.

Bella Hadid’s rehab journey as well as dedication to her health and well-being serve as an inspiration to many. By taking time for self-care and making significant changes in her life, she sets an example for others struggling with similar issues.

Her decision to step back from excessive drinking and prioritize mental health demonstrates strength and resilience. Through her openness about her journey, Bella Hadid’s medical leave reminds us all that it is essential to prioritize ourselves, seek help when needed, and work on personal growth to lead a fulfilling and balanced life.
